Job Description

Seeking an experienced Unix Systems Administrator with a strong HP-UX background to support a production environment. Must be able to integrate and maintain the current environment and support mission critical systems. Qualified candidate needs to be able to hit the ground running.  Will assist developers, programmers, database administrators, and other users in resolving UNIX issues as well as provide support for a report distribution system.  Provide 24x7x365 shared on call support for the UNIX environment.  Contribute to disaster recovery planning and test exercises.

Job Qualifications

Technical Requirements:

• 3 or more years of experience supporting and administering Corporate UNIX server environments under the HP-UX 11.0/11.i operating systems.  Environments include Development, QA and Production.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex software and hardware problems.
• Capable of designing, recommending, planning, and implementing UNIX solutions.
• Knowledge of server administration tasks, user administration, security procedures, SOX remediation and UNIX shell scripting.
• Change management, network/server monitoring, server backups and restores using HP DataProtector under robotic tape libraries.
• Ability to use performance tools (Glance, Perfview) and diagnostic tools (STM) to troubleshoot system problems.
• Experience with HP-UX kernel tuning and memory management.
• Experience with HP’s Logical Volume Manager and NFS.
• Experience with third party UNIX security products and encryption packages such as OpenSSH and PGP.
• Familiar with EMC, HP, or other enterprise disk technologies.
• Management of storage on SAN infrastructure using EMC Symmetrix.
• Ability to work in Windows and UNIX operating environments.

Helpful, but not required:

• LINUX administration and support.

• Exposure to Oracle 9.x, PeopleSoft 8.x and web server configuration.
• Intel/Windows server and desktop environment support.

Other Requirements:

• Willingness to learn and must have good work ethics.
• Good oral and written communication skills a must. 
• Ability to follow direction.
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to share with other UNIX administrators on call duty, which is scheduled weekly per administrator.
• Willingness to work a 40 hour week in addition to after hours support time required.
